Day 94 – Follow the light or light my own path.

Todays image reflects the thoughts in my head for today, how far do I follow the light left from others and how do I make my own light?

Where am I going, where do I want to go? Trying to answer these questions honestly.

Day 93 – Aww nuts!

I was out most of today and was disappointed I hadn’t made an image. While eating a handfull of pistachio nuts I thought they might make an image quite appropriate for today. I’m also slightly addicted to them so the number of nuts got smaller with each photo.

Day 92 – A bag full of goodies

This evening I had coffee with Roger Overall. Roger kindly offered me his time, knowledge and advice to open my eyes a bit more to the idea of embarking on the photographic journey towards self employment. I went away from the meeting feeling like I had just been handed a bag of goodies.

I would have loved to have stayed longer as it turns out Roger was also meeting some of the great Cork wedding photographers, I did mange to get a few introductions. However I needed to go and finish off the repairs to my sisters central heating, which I might add is now fully serviced and back running at full capacity. Now if I could just find a way to get rid of the smell of diesel off my hands.

Manual Reading

Today I decided to start on my flash manual just fora bot of variety. Page 7, getting started and basic operation.

I’ll be reading more of Visionmongers before bed so I’ll be looking a few of David DuChemins images again.

As mentioned above I met with Roger Overall to have a chat on this subject. Eyeopening and thought provoking stuff. Some of my thoughts have been reinforced, other unknowns have been highlighted.

I also think I may have narrowed down a niche area of interest to myself. A bit of research into the area and I’ll have more to tell later.

Day 87 – Heavy Machinery

I always find when I stick on a macro lens I get lost and can spend hours just moving around very slowly, like a sloth.

The image is of an old heavy drill, I couldn’t even guess how old but it still works.

I had a bit of a light bulb moment today when I was trying to figure out why my landscapes had no oomph,  is that even a word. So I brought a few up on my monitor and then flipped through many landscape photography books and then it hit me. How stupid I felt when I realized where I was going so wrong, seeing the same ‘mistake’ repeatedly. I’m not going to say now where I believe I’m going wrong, you will just have to wait until this weekend to see if I can prove it to myself.

I picked up a few boring but necessary information leaflets from banks and looked up insurance providers.

This wasn’t what I started Making images of. I tried a few things around the house before going with this, deliberately putting the two objects out of focus just a little.

Uninspired and tired of looking for something different today I just picked up the first thing I saw and tried to make an image with it. This poor teddy became the subject.

Two birds for the one stone here. I watched Episode Twelve: Website Critique by Zach Arais. It’s always good to hear a professionals opinion and get a few ideas along the way.
